Lush, textured and stunning, Arms and Sleepers are one of those bands that we are blessed to get in such an intimate space. Their music is reminiscent (without being imitative) of trip hop and rhythmic ambient acts, Portishead, DJ Shadow, the more subtle moments of Slowdive or My Bloody Valentine, but with a sense of the clean and electronic that set them apart as something new. Known for projecting gorgeous film during their sets, this looks to be one of those nights where a one hundred person room is enraptured to silence at the first note. Just take a listen at their myspace, these songs are mellow but infections and penetrating. I suppose what I’m getting at is this is going to be fantastic, and it would be a sad thing to miss. Two locals will also be on the bill: Seasons collide with their love for post-punk and shoegaze (self-described, aptly, as ‘pop music heard from the end of a tunnel’); and minimal folk bliss from We Heart Trees.
